Writing Task 2
Question
Rapid automation in workplaces is replacing some jobs while creating new kinds of work. Is this a positive or negative change for individuals and for society? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.
Model Answer
Automation can remove boring tasks and may lower prices for consumers, which can improve living standards. However, some workers may lose their jobs and find it hard to retrain, especially in middle age. For society, inequality can grow if only highly skilled people benefit. Overall, I see automation as mixed: it is positive in the long run if governments fund training and a fair , but in the short term the harm to some groups is serious.
