Zoos and Wildlife Conservation
Writing Task 2
Question
Zoos keep animals in enclosures for public display and sometimes for breeding programmes. Some people think zoos educate the public and protect endangered species, while others believe wild animals should never be kept in captivity. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Model Answer
Zoos let children see animals they would never meet in the wild. Breeding programmes have helped some rare species. But animals in small cages may be stressed and behave unnaturally. In my opinion, good modern zoos with large habitats are acceptable, but old-style zoos should close.
